front porch sitting
Stoop leisure time
Front porch sitting is the leisurely practice of spending time on a home's front porch, often in a rocking chair or swing, watching the neighborhood go by.
It suggests an unhurried, sociable way of life associated with small towns and the American South: We spent the evening front porch sitting and waving at neighbors.
The phrase evokes a slower pace before air conditioning moved socializing indoors.
