forced update
Non-optional software change
A forced update is a software update that installs automatically without giving the user the option to decline or postpone it.
Operating systems and applications use forced updates for critical security patches or when older versions will no longer be supported: The forced update broke my workflow.
Users often resent them, especially when updates arrive at inconvenient times or change familiar features.
