floor generals
Basketball's on-court strategists
Floor generals are basketball point guards who excel at directing their team's offense, calling plays, and controlling the pace of the game.
The term evokes a military commander marshaling troops on the battlefield: Chris Paul and Magic Johnson were among the greatest floor generals in NBA history.
The role emphasizes court vision, leadership, and decision-making over scoring.
