flag etiquette
Proper banner handling
Flag etiquette is the set of customs governing how a national flag should be displayed, handled, and disposed of.
In the United States, the Flag Code specifies that the flag shouldn't touch the ground, should be illuminated if flown at night, and should be burned when worn out.
The veterans group held a flag etiquette ceremony.
Violations are considered disrespectful but rarely carry legal penalties.
