fishing spider
Water-walking hunter
A fishing spider is a large spider that lives near water and hunts aquatic prey.
Unlike web-building spiders, fishing spiders rest on the water's surface, detecting vibrations from small fish, tadpoles, and insects, then striking quickly.
They can walk on water and dive beneath it.
A fishing spider sat motionless at the pond's edge.
