fillin

Short-term stand-in

A fillin is someone or something that temporarily takes the place of another—a substitute worker, a replacement player, or stand-in entertainment: We need a fillin while Sarah's on maternity leave.

The term is informal and often hyphenated or written as two words: fill-in.
