feral pig
Untamed rooting hog
A feral pig is a domestic pig that has escaped or been released into the wild and reverted to a wild state, or the descendants of such animals.
Found across many continents, feral pigs are highly adaptable and often destructive, rooting up crops, damaging ecosystems, and outcompeting native wildlife.
They breed prolifically and can be aggressive when cornered.
In the southern United States and Australia, feral pig populations have become serious agricultural and environmental pests.
Hunters were brought in to control the feral pig population.
