faregate
Transit access point
A faregate is a barrier at a transit station that opens when you pay or scan a valid ticket.
Faregates control access to subway platforms, commuter rail, or bus terminals, ensuring only paying passengers enter: She tapped her card and the faregate swung open.
Also called a turnstile, though faregates are often full-height barriers rather than rotating arms.
