fan cast

Imagined actor picks

Fan cast refers to imaginary casting suggestions made by fans for adaptations of books, comics, or reboots of existing media.

Rather than official studio decisions, these are wishful proposals shared online: My fan cast for the new Batman is Oscar Isaac.

As a verb, to fan cast is to propose such hypothetical casting: I've been fan casting the whole series in my head.
