fade route
Deep corner pattern
A fade route is a passing pattern in American football where a receiver runs straight downfield along the sideline, angling slightly outward while the quarterback throws a high, arcing pass toward the corner of the end zone.
The play relies on timing and placement rather than separation: He threw a perfect fade route to the back corner for the touchdown.
Also called simply a fade.
