eyebeams

Looks that pierce

Eyebeams are imagined rays of light or energy emanating from the eyes.

The concept appears in old theories of vision that supposed the eyes projected beams outward rather than receiving light.

Now the word is mostly playful or poetic: Their eyebeams met across the crowded room.

In comics and science fiction, eyebeams are literal energy blasts fired from a character's eyes.
