eye stalk

Crab's periscope limb

An eye stalk is a movable projection that supports an eye, found on crabs, snails, and other invertebrates.

The structure allows the animal to extend its eyes outward and rotate them independently, providing a wider field of vision: The crab's eye stalks swiveled as I approached.

Also spelled eyestalk.
