Old significant other
An ex-partner is a former romantic partner—someone with whom one previously had a relationship.
The term is deliberately neutral about the nature of that relationship, covering ex-spouses, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, or anyone else one was romantically involved with: I ran into my ex-partner at the grocery store.
Often shortened to simply ex.
