emotional age
Inner development level
Emotional age refers to someone's level of psychological maturity, which may differ from their chronological age.
A person can be intellectually advanced but emotionally younger, or vice versa: He's forty but has the emotional age of a teenager.
The concept appears in developmental psychology and casual assessment alike, often to explain why someone reacts to situations with unusual maturity or immaturity for their years.
