emersion

Rising into view

Emersion is the act of emerging or coming out, especially from water or another enveloping medium.

The term appears most often in astronomy, where it describes a celestial body reappearing after being obscured—as when the moon exits Earth's shadow during an eclipse, or a star emerges from behind the moon.

The opposite is immersion.
