editor's note
Inserted authorial comment
An editor's note is a brief comment inserted into a text by an editor rather than the original author, typically to clarify, correct, or add context.
It often appears in brackets or as a footnote, marked with "Ed." or "Editor's note": Editor's note: This interview was conducted before the scandal broke.
In journalism, editor's notes may address corrections or conflicts of interest.
