ectodermal dysplasia
Inherited tissue disorder
Ectodermal dysplasia refers to a group of inherited conditions affecting structures that develop from the ectoderm, the outermost layer of embryonic tissue.
These conditions typically involve abnormalities of the skin, hair, nails, teeth, and sweat glands.
Someone with ectodermal dysplasia might have sparse hair, missing or malformed teeth, and difficulty sweating.
The child's ectodermal dysplasia was diagnosed after her adult teeth failed to come in.
