Early puberty is the onset of sexual maturation at an unusually young age—typically before eight in girls or nine in boys.
The clinical term is precocious puberty.
It involves the same changes as normal puberty (breast development, genital growth, body hair) but occurring earlier than expected: The doctor diagnosed early puberty when she started developing at six.
