Morning paper version
An early edition is a version of a newspaper or book released before subsequent printings.
For newspapers, the early edition hits newsstands first, often updated throughout the day as stories develop: The early edition missed the verdict; the late edition had it splashed across the front page.
For books, early editions—especially first editions—may be prized by collectors.
