dry fit
Assemble without glue
Dry fit means to assemble components temporarily without glue, fasteners, or other permanent connections—checking that pieces align properly before final installation.
Common in woodworking, plumbing, and construction: Always dry fit the joints before applying adhesive.
The practice catches problems when they're still easy to fix.
Also spelled dry-fit or dryfit.
