drop test
Falling impact assessment
A drop test is a quality control procedure where a product is dropped from a specified height to assess its durability and packaging.
Electronics, shipping containers, and fragile goods undergo drop tests to simulate rough handling: The phone passed a four-foot drop test onto concrete.
The term also applies informally to any deliberate dropping to check sturdiness.
