double image
Vision appearing doubled
A double image is a visual phenomenon where a single object appears as two overlapping or adjacent images.
This occurs in optics when light rays don't converge properly—through lens defects, reflection errors, or misaligned equipment.
In vision, double images (diplopia) result from eye misalignment or neurological conditions: I've been seeing double images since the accident.
The term also describes artistic or photographic effects where subjects appear duplicated for emphasis or disorientation.
