double bogeys
Two over par
Double bogeys is the plural of double bogey, a golf scoring term for completing a hole in two strokes over par.
If par for a hole is four, a double bogey means taking six strokes.
Accumulating double bogeys signals a rough round, and the term sometimes extends figuratively to mean significant setbacks or failures: After a series of double bogeys in the third quarter, the company's stock plummeted.
