over par
Worse than expected
Over par describes a golf score higher than the expected number of strokes for a hole or course.
If par is 72 and you shoot 75, you're three over par.
The phrase extends to anything performing below expectations: The company's quarterly results came in over par.
Opposite of under par, though curiously, under par in non-golf contexts often means substandard rather than excellent.
