diving-bell
Underwater air capsule
A diving bell is a rigid chamber, open at the bottom, that traps air as it's lowered underwater, allowing divers to breathe and work beneath the surface.
The trapped air pocket prevents water from flooding the interior.
Early diving bells were simple bell-shaped containers; modern versions connect to surface air supplies.
They descended in the diving bell to examine the wreck.
