A ditz is a scatterbrained or ditzy person, typically applied to women perceived as silly or airheaded: She's a total ditz—she locked her keys in the car again.
The word carries dismissive connotations, suggesting someone frivolous or incapable of serious thought.
Some use it self-deprecatingly after a minor lapse: Sorry, I'm being such a ditz today.
