disbarring
Stripping legal license
Disbarring is revoking a lawyer's license to practice law, typically as punishment for serious misconduct or ethical violations.
The term comes from the bar—the legal profession itself.
A lawyer who is disbarred can no longer represent clients in court: The state supreme court is disbarring him for misappropriating client funds.
