direct light
Beam without diffusion
Direct light is illumination that travels straight from its source to a surface without being scattered, diffused, or reflected.
It creates strong contrast between lit areas and shadows: The direct light from the window made her squint.
In photography and film, direct light produces harsh shadows and dramatic effects, as opposed to the softer quality of diffused or bounced light.
