flat light
Even, diffuse illumination
Flat light is illumination that lacks contrast or dimension, casting minimal shadows.
In photography and film, flat light can be unflattering because it doesn't sculpt features or create depth: The overcast sky gave us nothing but flat light.
Pilots and skiers use the term for conditions where snow and sky blend together, obscuring terrain features and making navigation hazardous.
