diastolic blood pressure
Lower cardiac number
Diastolic blood pressure is the lower number in a blood pressure reading, measuring the pressure in arteries when the heart rests between beats.
A reading of 120/80 means the diastolic pressure is 80.
Elevated diastolic pressure indicates the heart isn't fully relaxing or arteries have stiffened: His diastolic was creeping up toward 90.
