devil's trumpet

Poisonous trumpet flower

Devil's trumpet is a flowering plant with large, trumpet-shaped blooms that point upward, unlike the closely related angel's trumpet, whose flowers hang down.

All parts of the plant are toxic and hallucinogenic, containing tropane alkaloids.

The name reflects both the flower's shape and its dangerous properties.

Also called jimsonweed or thorn apple.
