denervate
Cut nerve supply
To denervate is to cut or remove the nerve supply to an organ or body part, eliminating its ability to receive signals from the nervous system.
The procedure is used medically to reduce pain or stop involuntary muscle activity: The surgeon denervated the affected area to relieve chronic pain.
Denervation can also occur through injury or disease.
