de-nazification
Postwar political cleansing
De-nazification is the process of removing Nazi ideology, influence, and personnel from a society or institution.
The term originated after World War II when Allied powers purged former Nazis from German government, education, and industry.
More recently, Russia has invoked de-nazification to justify its invasion of Ukraine—a usage widely criticized as propaganda given Ukraine's Jewish president and lack of Nazi governance.
The word now carries contested meaning depending on who deploys it.
