daytime lights
Sunlit driving beacons
Daytime lights are vehicle headlights designed to run automatically during daylight hours, increasing visibility to other drivers.
Also called daytime running lights or DRLs, they're standard equipment in many countries: The car's daytime lights came on as soon as she started the engine.
Unlike headlights, they illuminate only the front of the vehicle and don't activate tail lights.
