always on
Constantly running, endlessly
Always on describes technology, systems, or services that remain continuously active and available without interruption.
An always-on internet connection stays connected permanently rather than dialing up when needed.
The phrase extends to people who never seem to disconnect from work or digital devices: She's always on, answering emails at midnight.
It can also describe someone who maintains a constant public persona, never dropping the performance: Comedians who are always on can be exhausting.
