day porter
Building's morning helper
A day porter is a building maintenance worker who handles cleaning and upkeep during daytime hours, as opposed to overnight janitorial staff.
Day porters typically address immediate needs as they arise—spills, restocking supplies, tidying common areas—rather than doing deep cleaning.
The role is common in office buildings, hotels, and large commercial properties: The day porter keeps the lobby looking sharp between the morning and evening cleaning crews.
