dangerous dogs
Risky pet animals
Dangerous dogs are breeds or individual animals officially designated as posing a threat to public safety.
Many jurisdictions maintain lists of breeds—pit bulls, Rottweilers, and others—subject to restrictions or bans.
The designation may also apply to any dog that has attacked someone: The court ruled that the animal be registered as a dangerous dog.
Owners often face special requirements: muzzling, secure fencing, liability insurance.
