dadoing
Making shelf slots
Dadoing is the woodworking technique of cutting a dado—a flat-bottomed groove across the grain of a board.
The groove receives the edge of another piece, creating a strong joint for shelves, cabinet boxes, and drawer dividers: I spent the afternoon dadoing the bookcase sides.
The cut is typically made with a table saw fitted with a dado blade or a router.
