cutmen
Ring injury handlers
Cutmen are the members of a boxer's corner team responsible for treating cuts and swelling between rounds.
They apply cold pressure to reduce swelling, use coagulants to stop bleeding, and apply petroleum jelly to prevent further tearing.
A skilled cutman can keep a fighter in a bout that would otherwise be stopped due to cuts.
His cutmen worked frantically on the gash above his eye.
