cut-aways
Brief inserted shots
Cut-aways are garments shaped to curve away from the body at the front, leaving an open view below the waist.
A cutaway coat or morning coat tapers from a single button to long tails at the back—formal wear for weddings and ceremonial occasions.
In film and television, a cutaway is a shot that briefly interrupts the main action to show something else: a reaction, a detail, or a related scene.
The director inserted a cutaway to the ticking clock.
