cruft
Accumulated code garbage
Cruft is accumulated junk, clutter, or unnecessary complexity—especially in computing, where it refers to outdated code, redundant features, or poorly designed elements that have built up over time: The codebase is full of cruft from five different developers.
The term originated at MIT and spread through hacker culture.
More broadly, cruft describes any buildup of useless stuff: I need to clear the cruft off my desk.
