crowd crush
Lethal density event
A crowd crush occurs when a dense mass of people becomes so compressed that individuals cannot move or breathe freely, often resulting in injury or death.
Unlike a stampede, victims typically cannot escape because the crowd itself is the danger—pressure builds as people push from behind while those in front have nowhere to go.
The concert turned deadly when a crowd crush killed dozens near the stage.
Also called a crush or crowd collapse.
