coteau
Sloping prairie elevation
A coteau is an upland area or ridge, particularly the side of a hill or a line of hills dividing drainage basins.
The term appears mainly in North American geography, especially in the Great Plains: the Coteau des Prairies, the Missouri Coteau.
From French, where it means hillside or slope.
