conservation corps
Public lands crew
A conservation corps is an organized program, typically government-sponsored, that employs people—often young adults—in environmental and public lands work: trail building, habitat restoration, fire prevention, park maintenance.
The model traces to the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s New Deal.
Modern corps combine community service with job training: She spent a year with the California Conservation Corps after high school.
