confessions of faith
Declared religious convictions
Confessions of faith are formal statements of religious belief, typically adopted by a church or denomination to define its doctrine: the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Augsburg Confession.
These documents distinguish one tradition from another and establish orthodoxy for members.
A personal confession of faith is an individual's declaration of belief, often required for baptism or church membership.
