confessional box
Penance enclosure chamber
A confessional box is a small enclosed booth in Catholic churches where a priest hears confessions.
The design typically includes separate compartments for priest and penitent, divided by a screen or grille that allows communication while preserving anonymity: She knelt in the confessional box and began recounting her sins.
