Isolated section design
Compartmentation is the practice of restricting information or access to isolated segments, preventing any single person or breach from compromising the whole.
Intelligence agencies use compartmentation so operatives know only what their specific role requires: Strict compartmentation meant the left hand never knew what the right was doing.
The term also appears in fire safety, where physical barriers contain flames to separate zones.
