communication link
Data transmission path
A communication link is the connection that allows information to pass between two points—whether physical (cables, radio waves) or abstract (a shared channel between systems or people).
The term appears in technical contexts for network connections and in general usage for any means of staying in contact: The satellite provides a communication link to remote villages.
When one link fails, the whole chain breaks.
