coming across

Stumbling upon something

Coming across has two main meanings.

The first is encountering something by chance: I came across an old photo in the attic.

The second is how someone or something is perceived by others: She comes across as confident, His speech came across well.

The perception sense often appears with "as" or an adverb describing the impression made.
