color plate
Full-color book page
A color plate is a full-page illustration printed in color, typically on higher-quality paper than the surrounding text.
Books with color plates often have them gathered in a separate section rather than distributed throughout: The field guide includes thirty-two color plates of North American birds.
The term dates from when color printing required special processes distinct from black-and-white text printing.
